Another ACen down! Anime Central 2016 was so amazing, I know that this is the best year to date :D
Thursday night, Kyle and I got in a little late but were quickly greeted by our amazing friends and roommates for the weekend, Andrew andJennifer. Not only are they the only couple that beats our awesome but they are super friendly and funny and great company throughout the entire con!
Friday, started off in my ANX Idol uniform and shopping! Kyle and I visited a few panels and ran around enjoying the MECCA that we were in <3 Around 3, I changed into my Neko cosplay and realized that in an hour I had to change into Luca for a photoshoot D: So I gulped down some cider and ran around the con saying MEOW to anyone that would quickly notice lol I immediately changed into my Luca cosplay (since I changed so fast I didn't realize I was missing my headpiece *still bitter at my own forgetfullness :( * ) and ran off to one of the coolest events: A Cosplay Photography FREE OPEN SHOOT! Basically a various amount of great photographers all gather in one area and you can have a shoot with them for FREE as long as you have a business card so they can give you your photos! Some of my favorite cosplay photographers were there and I got to shoot with them and see how they work :D (Again, only issue is I had a TON of photos taken and didn't notice I had forgotten my headpiece until I got back to the room :/ ). All the while, Kyle was taking a cat nap in the hotel room to prepare for the night ahead! Once the shoot was over, I was rather chilly and decided to change back into Neko since her outfit is basically a plush towel long sleeve dress lol and Kyle and I had dinner. I was so exhausted from the day that even though it was only 7pm, I was falling asleep as I was eating my soup XD Kyle then convinced me that it was MY time to have a cat nap and I slept in the room for 2 hours!! The night ended in my GoGo Leafa outfit, having a lovely dinner with Andrew, Jen, Dale, Jake and Kurt, before heading off to the terrible Synergy dance, in which we quickly left and had a party in our room instead XD
Saturday began with hardcore NERVES. This was the day I was debuting my Black Rock Shooter cosplay, the only cosplay I've done that I've had a huge prop for and wasn't a cute smiley anime girl. I had to put on a persona for the day and be Black Rock for everyone...and I was scared. Very scared D: Kyle thought some shopping would help (and it did XD), so we shopped around the Dealer Hall and Artist Alley for a small time before heading back to the room to get dressed for Black Rock. I made a great decision and had the first thing I do in costume be a photoshoot. Nothing makes you feel more like a character than getting to extensively pose and act like them, then see the AMAZING images on the back of the camera. I shot with Matthew Sperzel Photography, the same photographer that took pictures of my Leafa cosplay last year! It felt great seeing his creativity bring my hard work to life and really personify the KICK ASS gun that Andrew made for me :D :D Matthew kept saying this was his best shoot of the weekend so far and loved that fact that my eyepiece and gun lit up! After that ego boost XD, it was easy to slowly maneuver around the con and get asked for pictures every few steps lol Kyle and I spent the rest of the afternoon shopping and getting my picture/video taken (I'll hopefully end up in a few Anime Central cosplay videos!). I even got to meet a fan of mine, Victor! The day flew by so fast with all the excitement in my new cosplay that I didn't notice that the time was quickly arriving that I would have to be in my gogo Ashe outfit and eat dinner before DANCING for Soap Bubble!! I rushed on my outfit and ran down to dinner wherein I gulped a Long Island Ice Tea like I was a fish to water and quickly ate some miso soup and rice before leaving Kyle and Jennifer to actually enjoy their dinner lol Saturday night ended with shenanigans and super fun dancing with the lovely girls that all made it onto the Soap Bubble GoGo Team, including Diana , Katie & Danielle. I will tell you this, while the music was not up to my par (damn me being a part of the EDM scene in MPLS and dating a DJ), there is nothing better than dancing on a Anime Convention stage. The crowd is ALWAYS into it 110% and they truly appreciate your moves and enthusiasm with them! I've never had more fun on a stage than I had these past two years with Soap Bubble :D <3
I fell asleep at 4am and awoke at 10am to start packing up on the final day of con :( Usually Kyle and I dip out immediately after check-out but due to the new LENSBABY Twist 60 lens I received for my birthday present from my parents, I HAD to stay for a few more hours and get pictures :D Kyle, Jen and I wandered around shopping and enjoying the weather while capturing some of the fun cosplays of the day and saying goodbye to old and new friends, I even had a small chance to hang out with my cutest fan Casey before mentally hitting a wall and deciding it was time to make the slow trip to Mitsuwa and end this glorious weekend with authentic ramen <3
Usually I get really bad post-con depression but this year I don't have it and I think it's because I literally did everything I wanted and was always smiling due to friends and the environment. Everyone knew their limits and we all made fun, safe decisions to make Anime Central 2016 the best Anime Central of my life <3
I want to give a huge shoutout to Andrew, for making the coolest prop I have ever seen, nonetheless got to hold all day XD, Jennifer for the stupid amount of ego-boosting and compliments that both embarressed and flattered me, my best friend Alli for the amazing birthday present of Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland eyeshadow which helped bring all my cosplays to life with GORGEOUS eyes :D, Diana for dancing with me and helping me know the great photographers at the open shoot, Casey for all the gifts (I'm wearing a pair of the earrings now!), and Kyle Powers for putting up with my sheningans and perfectionism all weekend, you the real MVP <3
